At AGN Grass, we envision a world in which artificial grass makes a positive contribution to people and the environment – where it is produced, applied, and processed sustainably. Our vision is clear: a fully circular artificial grass market in which raw materials are reusable, recyclable, and free from harmful substances. Concretely, this means:
Raw materials that can be reused.
Collaboration across the supply chain to encourage and enable recycling
We are building a system in which every field, at the end of its lifespan, can be fully reused – without residual waste streams or environmental damage..
We have already made significant strides toward a circular economy by introducing products that are 100% recyclable and products that are partly made from recycled materials. These innovations enable us to minimize waste in the future and redeploy valuable raw materials. But this is just the beginning…
The path to full circularity is ambitious and involves several stages. We are currently in phase 2 of 4:
Awareness and reduction: Choosing raw materials more consciously and minimizing waste streams.
Design for recycling: Designing products with disassembly and reuse in mind. (Current phase)
Creating closed loops: Implementing take-back programs and recycling facilities.
Full circularity: Every component is reusable, and new production relies on recycled input.
We are proud of our progress, but we also recognize that there is more work to be done. That is why we invest in innovation, collaboration with recyclers, and sustainable supply chain partners.
Our eco-products are specially developed with a focus on the environment. They are designed for reuse while remaining comfortable and high-quality. In this way, we actively contribute to a circular economy—without compromising on comfort or sustainability.
• Monomaterials: All our eco-products are made from a single type of plastic (polyolefin), making them much easier to recycle at the end of their life.
• Safe for people, animals, and nature: We use no heavy metals or harmful additives. Our products are therefore safe for everyday use and environmentally friendly.
The backing in our eco-line is bonded with an innovative adhesive that melts at lower temperatures, offering clear environmental benefits:
• Less heat required during production
• Lower energy consumption
• Reduced CO₂ emissions
Eco-backed artificial grass is not only sustainable but also pleasant to work with:
• Lighter in weight, making installation easier
• Easier to cut, allowing for faster and neater work
• Efficient to process, ideal for landscapers and DIY enthusiasts
Our eco-backing contains no latex, which benefits both the environment and households with pets:
• No crumbling backing due to pet urine
• No unpleasant odors with proper maintenance
• Durable, hygienic, and comfortable in use
Our eco-products are circular by design, energy-efficiently produced, and safe for all types of gardens—even those with children or pets. This makes sustainability practical and achievable for the future.
As an organization, we closely monitor climate developments. We see growing concerns about heat, drought, and water scarcity—and we understand how important it is to address these issues proactively. However, we also notice that the way the climate debate is often conducted tends to create division rather than connection. Not because people don’t want to contribute, but because the discussion sometimes focuses too heavily on extremes.
This is also evident within our field. Artificial grass often sparks strong reactions. For some, it symbolizes what’s wrong with the way we interact with nature. Yet the debate is rarely approached with nuance. It often seems that you either contribute to the climate or undermine it—with little room for compromise.
As an organization, we believe not in rigid opposites but in solutions that work. We are committed to green outdoor spaces that are not only beautiful and functional but also contribute to climate adaptation.
In many of our clients’ projects, we combine artificial grass in functional areas with plants, trees, shaded zones, and smart water management. This is not a compromise but a deliberate choice:
• No lawns that require weekly watering with precious drinking water.
• Yes to perennials that promote biodiversity.
• No to high-maintenance or unusable outdoor spaces.
• Yes to comfortable, livable gardens—sustainable and thoughtfully designed.
Our mission is to bring the climate conversation closer to people’s reality. Not everyone has the resources, time, or knowledge to create a fully ecological garden—but that doesn’t mean a contribution isn’t possible.
We believe that smart combinations and tailored solutions achieve more than rigid rules. A garden where artificial grass is thoughtfully applied alongside living plants often contributes more to sustainability than a constantly watered lawn or a fully paved garden.
We choose the “both-and” approach. Sustainability only truly works when it is accessible and feasible—for everyone.
